In 1995, director Steve James returns to find out what has become of Stevie Fielding, the 'Little Brother' whom he was paired with through an advocate program, in the past ten years since they last were in touch. When, halfway through filming, Stevie is arrested and charged with a very serious crime, what was intended to document a simple reunion turns out to be a nearly five year epic encompassing many facets of Stevie's troubled life and the effects it has on those around him.
