Unique and poignant road/buddy film. While Hoffman got heaped with all the praise (and he was excellent) Cruise's performance is really the one to be marvelled at, as he had to carry the entire emotional weight of the film on his shoulders.

Star Wars

Good movie. Fun movie. But never quite lived up to the hype for me. There are lots of sci-fi films I like more.

Take the Money and Run

Perhaps not the best made Woody Allen film (he didn't even direct it) but for me the one with the most laughs. I've seen it dozens of times and laugh throughout every time.

Play It Again, Sam

For whatever reason, I relate to the main character in this film more so than in any of Woody's other films. (Sad, but true.) Some of the great moments of physical comedy come when he goes on his first date after his divorce. Priceless.

Young Frankenstein

The best horror spoof film ever made. The "Putting on the Ritz" scene is fall out of your chair funny.

American Beauty

One of those movies that had the right voice at the right time. Spacey was amazing and will (unfortunately) not come close to that level again, it seems.

The Godfather

There is a reason why this film has the reputation as one of the greatest of all time. The Godfather has become the yardstick by which all other films about the mafia are measured. I think it may be second only to Casablanca in terms of quotable lines.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1

One of the most engaging action films I have ever seen. Great fight scenes, witty dialogue, and visually arresting.

Rocky

Possibly the best sports movie ever.
